JamAlert Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 7, 2026

This policy covers the ATAK Plugin: JamAlert Android app (package com.spicycorp.jamalert.plugin), published by Spicy Corp (“we,” “us”). JamAlert is a plugin that runs inside the ATAK (Android Team Awareness Kit) app and detects GPS jamming and interference. This policy describes, in plain terms, what the plugin does with data.

The short version

  • JamAlert has no user accounts and no login.
  • It contains no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or billing SDKs, and talks to no Spicy Corp server. We never receive your data.
  • It uses your device’s location to detect interference. That location, and the alerts it raises, leave your device only through ATAK’s own messaging, to the TAK server or team network you configure. We have no access to it.
  • We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with any third party.

Google Play Data safety summary

This maps our practices to Google Play’s Data safety categories, so this policy and the store form say the same thing:

Data type Collected Shared
Precise location Yes No
Device or other IDs (your ATAK callsign and marker identifier) Yes No
All other categories (personal info, financial info, messages, photos, contacts, app activity, diagnostics, web history) No No

“Collected” means the data leaves your device: precise location and your ATAK identifiers travel inside ATAK’s alert messages to the TAK network you configure. “Not shared” means it is never transferred to a third party. Nothing is sent to Spicy Corp, to any advertising or analytics company, or to any data broker, and nothing is sold. The only destination is the TAK server or mesh network you set up and control inside ATAK.

What the plugin collects, and why

Location. To detect GPS jamming, JamAlert reads raw satellite signal measurements from your device and your position from your ATAK self-marker, while you are actively using ATAK. It does not run in the background. Anomalies it detects are stored in a database on your own device.

Alerts sent over your TAK network. When JamAlert raises an alert, it hands that alert to ATAK, which broadcasts it over the TAK server or mesh network you have set up. Those alerts contain your position, your ATAK callsign and marker identifier, the type and confidence of the anomaly, and signal-quality figures. This goes only to your own TAK network and the team on it. It does not come to Spicy Corp, and we cannot see it.

Optional export. You can choose to export your anomaly history, including coordinates, to your device’s shared storage as a file. That file stays on your device unless you move it yourself.

What the plugin does NOT do

No accounts. No analytics or usage tracking. No crash reporting. No advertising or advertising identifiers. No connection to any Spicy Corp server. No background location. It does not read your contacts, messages, photos, microphone, or camera. It requests only location permissions (fine and coarse), which it needs to do its job.

Who we share information with

Spicy Corp shares your information with no one, because we never receive it. The only place your location and alerts travel is the TAK server or team network you yourself configure inside ATAK. That destination is under your control, not ours. We do not use advertisers, analytics companies, or data brokers, and we do not sell data.

Data retention

Spicy Corp retains none of your data, because we never receive it. The records the plugin creates are stored only on your device and remain until you delete them or uninstall the app.

Deletion and your choices

Uninstalling the plugin removes its local data (the anomaly database, settings, and any exports left in the app’s folder) from your device. You can revoke the location permission at any time in Android settings. For any question or request, email hello@spicycorp.com.

Children

JamAlert is a tactical tool for ATAK users and is not directed at children.

Changes to this policy

We’ll post updates here with a new effective date, and reflect any material change in the app’s store data disclosures.
